For helping City’s festival Mineland Shelter, Future Home receive recognition

Marlon A. Taño - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Tacloban City government, led by Mayor Cristina Romualdez, had conferred a plaque of recognition on the Mineland Shelter Foundation (MSFI) and Future Home Company Ltd (FHCL) for their help and support for the successful staging of the Sangyaw Festival’s Parade of Lights on June 29.

Mineland, with its China-based partner Future Home, joined Sangyaw for the third time this year. The two social housing companies initially wanted to provide funds for the festival, but was told to finance instead Barangay 58 (Cabalawan), one of the contingents for the Parade of Lights merrymaker’s category.

Romualdez have been thankful to the ready assistance of the two companies to the city’s annual festival, as well as their endeavor in providing social housing for the displaced families of typhoon Yolanda.

Mineland, with its president Siony Sia, has been the mobilizer or facilitator for the housing project in Tacloban, under the community mortgage program (CMP), including site development.

Future Home, with its president Xia Zhao Yuan, is the supplier and contractor of the project, which targets to build close to 2,000 housing units for the CMP beneficiaries who are all survivors of, but rendered homeless by the devastating Yolanda.

Sia expressed her gratitude for the support of Future Home in the housing project for the typhoon victims. The project will utilize the beneficiaries themselves, as workers, under the so-called “sweat equity” concept, in the building of their own houses.

Sia had invited other CMP members to reactivate their membership to avail themselves of the houses that will be built by Mineland and Future Home in their forthcoming projects. The site development is now underway and the model houses for the project are almost finished, she said.

The Chinese officials of Future Home, upon completion of the project, will bring to China a fulfilling experience of providing houses to the homeless in Tacloban, Sia told The Freeman.  (FREEMAN)
