RHU chief denies hand in ambulance use during outing
PINABACDAO, SAMAR, Philippines – The chief of this town's Rural Health Unit denied he approved the use of the LGU ambulance, which was spotted inside a resort on Sunday, apparently being used for recreation by a group of youngsters.
Doctor Cornellio Solis, in a message to Aksyon Radyo-Catbalogan, said he had no hand in approving the dispatch of the ambulance because the vehicle was reportedly under the jurisdiction of the town's General Services Office.
"But it is a good thing that people are talking about it, because there had been so many instances that said Foton Ambulance won't transport patients allegedly because they can't she'll out P600 for the fuel, according to the driver," Solis said.
"In several cases, I am using my own vehicle to transport patients to the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (in Tacloban City). How come this ambulance had diesel fuel in going to a resort. The GSO should be the right agency to explain this," Solis added.
Netizens on Sunday spotted an unmarked ambulance inside Villa Escober Resort in Paranas town and posted photos of it on Facebook, which turned viral and drew criticisms from the social media.
The ambulance was later known to belong to the Pinabacdao LGU. (BANAT NEWS)
