CEBU, Philippines - Officials of Sun Chenggui, a housing builder based in Shandong, China, accompanied by typhoon Yolanda survivors from Tacloban City, paid a courtesy visit and congratulated incoming President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City on Friday.

Xia Chenggui, president of Sun Chenggui informed Duterte of the company’s housing project for Yolanda survivors in Tacloban, which will be carried out under the Philippine government’s Community Mortgage Program, through the Social Housing Finance Corporation.

Xia and his business partners also told Duterte of their intention to invest in the country particularly in providing typhoon resistant and low cost housing in Tacloban and in Davao cities.

Siony Sia, mobilizer of CMP in Tacloban, and Barangay Pericohon Chairman Cesar Advincula, accompanied Xia and the Chinese businessmen in meeting with Duterte, to whom they disclosed that close to 2,000 low-cost housing units will be built in Tacloban, using the latest construction materials that the company has been using.

Xia, speaking through an interpreter also told Duterte that the revolutionary materials in the housing industry are wind, fire and earthquake resistant, while being decent and comfortable to live in.

The Chinese housing builders later gifted Duterte with a painting, entitled Auspicious Seas of Cloud, by China’s famous painter Zhu Shi Ming, a rectangular Ding, and a framed drawing of Duterte’s late mother Soledad Roa Duterte, which made the incoming president emotional.

Sia narrated to The Freeman that Duterte approved the benevolent project of Sun Chenggui that would finally solve the needs of the Yolanda victims in Tacloban.

Duterte told the visiting Taclobanons: “I assure you that you and the rest of the Filipinos, especially the informal settlers, will not regret in choosing me as your president. I know my help is direly needed by all of you.”

Sia said Sun Chenggui’s project is “the spirit of no boundaries; a social responsibility for the future of the Filipino people, as it replicates the good heart of the President Duterte,”.added Sia,  (FREEMAN)
