Negros Organic Festival sales hit P4.1M
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The five-day gross earnings of the 10th Negros Island Organic Festival last week reached P4.1million, which was 29 percent higher from last year’s, according to Dina Genzola, Negros Occidental senior agriculturist.
Genzola confirmed that the gross sales on its first day (November 25), was pegged at P816,935; the second day reached P801,992; the third day earnings were P899,901; the fourth day was P883,167; and on the fourth and last day (November 29) was P781,992.
Last year, the same festival’s revenues were at P3.1 million, with 216 exhibitors, and this year Genzola said the number of exhibitors reached 280.
Items sold at this year’s festival were fresh organic vegetables, grains, fruits, fresh milk, juices, eggs, native delicacies, plants, machinery, cooked seafood and meat products.
Organic food producers and processors, upland farmers, indigenous peoples, cooperatives, local government units, non-government organizations, and people’s organizations joined the five-day activity. —Marchel P. Espina (FREEMAN)
