Suspects, whose car was found to have guns, face inquest

Juancho R. Gallarde - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Three persons, whose car they abandoned after crashing into the pavement of the park in Sibulan, Negros Oriental and later allegedly found by the police to be carrying unlicensed guns and ammunition, have been hauled to the procecutor’s office for inquest proceedings or preliminary investigation.

They were arrested earlier for reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property and, after the alleged discovery of the guns from their car, the police suspected them as being members of an organized crime group.

Two of them, identified as Diamaden Alimoden and Ryan Lumangcolob, all from Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu, were assisted by lawyer Gary Guido Tabios, of the Public Attorney’s Office, during inquest proceedings conducted by Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Ethyl Eleccion Vidal.

The third suspect, who was a male juvenile, was ordered to be put in custody of the Social Welfare Office in Sibulan.

During the inquest, the two, who are now detained at the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office in Sibulan for security reasons, vehemently denied ownership of the guns recovered from their vehicle. They claimed that the police planted the evidence, while they were taking their meals nearby.

Recovered during the police search were two unlicensed hand guns, a silencer, ammunition, three wigs, a bonnet and a django hat..

After the “discovery” of the items, the police pursued them and eventually intercepted them while on board a bus bound for Cebu. They however claimed they were on their way to Lanao del Norte, but without saying why they abandoned the car they were riding, after figuring in the accident. (FREEMAN)
