USAID turns over P2M health center to a town in Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — The United States Agency for International Development had donated a rural health facility to the Tabon-tabon municipal government in Leyte province.

Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla told reporters that the P2-million newly-constructed Tuberculosis DOTS health center was turned-over to the Tabon-tabon LGU, which was one of the 12 town-recipients of USAID’s health facilities in Leyte.

Each of the TB health centers was designed to withstand strong earthquakes and typhoons of more than 300 kilometers per hour, like that of super typhoon Yolanda that devastated the province on November 8, 2013

Petilla said the health centers were equipped with medical equipment and supplies for TB patients in Leyte. — Primo A. Cayubit (FREEMAN)
