All Saints’ Day must be holy, not creepy — priest
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – The San Sebastian Cathedral Parish of the Diocese of Bacolod on Sunday successfully celebrated its second year celebration of the “Parade of the Saints,” participated by at least 85 children, dressed in garments of their favorite saints.
Father Felix Pasquin, Cathedral parish rector, reminded the faithful that the “celebration of Halloween and All Saints’ Day should be holy, not creepy.” The Parade of the Saints was designed “as an alternative to the creeping secularism in celebrating Halloween where children are dressed as witches, monsters, vampires, fairies and other mythical creatures.”
The “secularized version of Halloween” does not support any positive values, he said, thus the Parade of Saints sought to promote the Saints as role models for children to imitate. —/CBCP News
