Ric V. Obedencio - The Freeman

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — When the filing period of certificates of candidacy ended Friday, Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto of the Liberal Party came out facing four opponents in his re-election bid in the May 2016 elections.

The four contenders against Chatto, based on the Comelec’s final list of bets for governor were:

Loay town Mayor Rosemarie “Mae” Lim Imboy, who is running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan); Kary Lumayno Balagosa, an independent bet who was the first to file his COC on Monday; Wenceslao Garcia, who used the PMM initial as his party affiliation; and Cipriano Gaudicos of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan.

For the vice gubernatorial post, it would be a race between re-electionist Vice Gov. Concepcion Ong Lim and Provincial Board Member Dionisio Dajalos Balite, both residents of Valencia town in Bohol.

In the case of the congressional seats, the first district would be a battle among re-electionist Representative Rene Lopez Relampagos (LP), and newcomers Joahna Cabalit Initay (United Nationalists Alliance) and Crescencio Alturas (PDP-Laban).

The second district congressional race would be a one-on-one fight between incumbent Representative Aris Aumentado (Nationalist People’s Coalition) and LP’s Gerardo Garcia.

The third district congressional fight would be between incumbent Rep. Arthur Cua Yap (NPC) and former Carmen town mayor Conchita “Che” Toribio delos Reyes (PDP-Laban).

For the PB posts, seven contenders were vying for three seats in the 1st district: Neophytes Manuelti Bumaat, Dante Salva and Christopher Bangalao, all of PDP-Laban; re-electionists Venzencio Arcamo and Abeleon Damalerio and neophyte Ricky Uy Masamayor (all of LP); and independent Jose Mesina.

For the three seats in the 2nd district, the bets were: Incumbent Tomas Abapo Jr. (Nacionalist Party); Niño Rey Boniel (Comelec listed him under LP); Antonio Pacheco Ouano, Jr., (NPC); Giehrjem Puracan, Agapito Avenido and Jonel Torregosa (all of LP); and Santos Abella (independent).

For the four seats in the 3rd district, the contenders were: Incumbent Godofreda Tirol, Noel Bongolto, Dionisio Victor Balite and Porferio Datoy (all of PDP-Laban); incumbent Elpidio Jala, Jane Jade Acapulco Bautista, Sancho Bernales and Kristine Alexie Tutor (all of LP); and Laureano Omac (PMM).  (FREEMAN)
