Drug suspect killed, three others nabbed
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – The police had to shot to death a drug pushing suspect who pulled out a gun from his waist and aimed at them during the conduct of a search warrant at his house at Barangay Junob, this city, on Monday.
The slain drug personality was identified as Osias Morales, alias Junjun Potot, who was the subject of the warrant issued by Regional Trial Court-Negros Oriental Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio Jr. The suspect was first rushed to a hospital in the city but died later on due to gunshot wounds.
Chief Inspector Benedict Poblete, chief of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group, said the operatives also arrested three men allegedly having a pot session inside Morales’ house. They were identified as Gilbert Morales, June Michael Dumdum and Felix Pleñoz.
The raiding team also confiscated 12 sachets of shabu, weighing about 4.5 grams and with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P54,000, drug paraphernalia and a .38-caliber revolver with four live bullets.
Junob village chief Isagani Bana said more than a year ago, he advised the suspects to stop the nefarious activity but to no avail. He said he even invited their parents to help them stop using and selling drugs, and reform themselves, but failed.
