Limkaichong announces candidacy for Congress

Juancho R. Gallarde - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Former 1st district Representative Jocelyn Sy Limkaichong, of the Liberal Party, on Wednesday announced and declared her candidacy for a congressional seat again in May 2016 elections.

Limkaichong made this declaration during a gathering of politicians at a beach resort in La Libertad town where they also aired their divided support to the gubernatorial bids of either re-electionist Governor Roel Degamo or 2nd district Rep. George Arnaiz.

The nine mayors present were Jimmy Clerigo of Canlaon City, Guido Reyes of Guihulngan City, Lawrence Pikdin Limkaichong of La Libertad, Hazel Tuanda of Jimamalud, Nonong Ruperto of Tayasan, Edsel Enardecido of Ayungon, Valente Yap of Bindoy, Junifer Villegas of Villahermoso, and Felix Sy of Manjuyod.

Of the nine mayors, five openly supported Arnaiz, while four of them were for Degamo, but they all said their common candidate for 1st district respresentative would be Limkaichong.

Limkaichong, the comebacking congresswoman and LP provincial chair, said she was for Arnaiz as governor, but she understood and respected the commitment of the four who were supporting Degamo.

One of the nine mayors, however, one did not align himself with the presidential bid of former Secretary Mar Roxas of the LP.

Also present during Limkaichong’s declaration were Vice Governor Edward Macias, Provincial Board Members Ikay Koppin and Georgita Martinez, and Mar’s point person in Region 7, Marino Fernan.
