Robbers take P265T cash from boutique in 5 minutes

The Freeman

ORMOC CITY, Philippines — Three armed men Tuesday morning barged into a boutique at the downtown area in this city, two blocks away from a police station, and carted away with P265,000 cash in a robbery done in about five minutes.

Jona Brazil-Chan, owner of the Brazilian Boutique at Bonifacio Street, told police she and her personnel opted not to resist to avoid being harmed and immediately gave the money to the robbers who quickly left the scene on a motorcycle without plate number.

Chan said the robbers did not cover their faces, which may meant that nobody knew them and they were not from the city.

Shortly after the heist, Chan’s driver, Primo Licaña, ran to the police station to report the incident. A hot pursuit was immediately conducted but was unsuccessful.

As of press time, the police tried to get footage from a CCTV camera in an establishment nearby, hoping to identify the robbers. — Lalaine M. Jimenea (FREEMAN)
