Brgy chief arrested in gun raid
CEBU, Philippines - An early morning gun raid Wednesday led to the arrest of a barangay chairman in Dueñas town of Iloilo.
Percy Florida, 53, of Barangay Bita, a hinterland village in Dueñas, was arrested after a gun and several rounds of ammunition were recovered from his house.
Joint elements of the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, Dueñas Police Station, and 3rd Maneuver Platoon–Iloilo Provincial Public Safety Company swooped down on Florida’s house with a search warrant issued by Judge Vicente Go of Regional Trial Court-branch 68 of Dumangas, Iloilo. Seized from Florida were a .45-caliber pistol, a magazine, 31 live ammunition, five empty shells of .45-caliber bullets, and more empty shells of bullets for a .357-caliber revolver and 5.56-caliber rifle.
Inspector John Ryan Doceo of the PIB-IPPO said residents had complained Florida for indiscriminate firing allegedly when drunk. (FREEMAN)
