Drug suspect nabbed, P98k shabu seized
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — A team of police operatives on Wednesday swooped down on the house of a suspected drug pusher in Barangay Cadawinonan of this city and confiscated around eight grams of shabu, with an estimated value of P98,000, based on the Dangerous Drugs Board pricing.
The team, consisting of the Negros Oriental Police’s Provincial Intelligence Bureau/Special Operations Group — led by Senior Inspector Jul Mohammad Jamiri and Senioir Police Officer 4 Allen June Germodo — and Dumaguete City policemen, arrested the suspect, 54-year-old Pablito Gonzales Canseco, alias Pabling.
Armed with a search warrant, issued by Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio, Jr., the operatives raided Canseco’s house and also seized 24 pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, two empty sachets and other drug paraphernalia. Jamiri said Canseco was a suspected Level 2 drug pusher, which meant that he could dispose at least 300 grams of shabu per week.
Canseco was also in the police’s target list of suspected drug personalities and was under close surveillance for about two to three weeks before the arrest, Jamiri added.
Germodo said Canseco was positively identified by a civilian informant, and fell into a test buy done by a police poseur buyer, before the raid. He also showed a video footage showing the suspect repacking shabu in his residence.
Canseco told The Freeman the shabu was brought to him by two men earlier that morning. He also admitted to selling shabu in the past months to sustain the medicines for his wife, while confined in a hospital. (FREEMAN)
