Dinagyang Festival 2015 Tribu Panayanon is grand slam champion

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Tribu Panayanon of the Iloilo City National High School has been declared as grand slam champion of the Dinagyang Festival 2015 after winning the Ati-Ati competition for three consecutive years now.

This year, the tribe also bagged the Best in Choreography and Best in Performance awards, on top of the special awards—Best Choreographer, Best Shield and Spear and Best Headdress Award.

The tribe first joined the Dinagyang Festival as Tribu Silak and changed its name to Tribu Lunok, which took 1st runner-up honors in 2012.

In the Dinagyang 2013, the tribe changed its name again to Tribu Panayanon to showcase the diverse cultural heritage of the entire Panay Island. It won the title as later grand champion in the Aliwan Festival 2013.

Tribu Panayanon was chosen by the Philippine Tourism Board of the Department of Tourism to represent the country in promoting "It's More Fun in the Philippines" at New York City and Los Angeles in California, during the 115th Philippine Independence Day Parade that same year.

This year's second placer to Tribu Panayanon was the Tribu Paghidaet of the La Paz National High School, which also got the Best in Costume, Best Costume Designer and Best in Discipline awards.

Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School was 2nd runner-up winner, plus the Best in Music and Best Musical Director awards.

The 3rd runner-up was Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School, which also won the Best Street Dancing award.
