Only 85 local journalists can cover Papal visit

Miriam Garcia Desacada - The Freeman

PALO, LEYTE, Philippines – At least 85 local-based journalists were confirmed by the Palo Archdiocese to cover the entire event of the papal visit, as part of security limitations, according to Father Amadeo Alvero, archdiocese communications director yesterday.

Alvero said the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines had approved the accreditation of the 85 local journalists, 50 of whom will cover the open air-Mass at the Tacloban DZR airport, while 20 others will be at the Palo Cathedral and the remaining 15 will be at the Pope Francis Center for the Poor where the pope will have his luncheon with 30 survivors of Yolanda and the Bohol earthquake.

Hundreds of foreign and national journalists will be covering the event, and most of them are already here in Leyte to prepare for the coverage.
