CEBU, Philippines – A 36-year-old man hacked dead his mother and nephew inside their house at Barangay Caid-Quid in Mambusao town of Capiz on Christmas Day.

The victims were identified as Amanda Delicano, 65, and her grandson, Ronick Delicano, 4. Two nieces of the attacker, aged 3 and 9, were also injured and are now treated at a hospital in Iloilo City.

The suspect, Charlie Delicano, was reportedly suffering from a mental illness and is now detained at the Mambusao Police Station.

Senior Superintendent Ulysses Caton, Capiz police chief, said the family decided to press charges against Delicano for parricide, murder, and double frustrated murder.

On the eve of December 24, Delicano went to his mother's house and asked for his Christmas present. When none was given to him, he calmly went to sleep. But at 12:15 a.m., he woke up and quickly grabbed a bolo and hacked the four victims who were sleeping.

It was believed that Amanda tried to run and asked for help. Her body was found around 100 meters from their house.
