Leyteño runner wins bronze in Qatar tilt; qualifies for World Youth Games in Colombia

Primo A. Cayubit - The Freeman

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – A 14-year-old scholar of the Leyte Sports Academy, representing the Philippines, won a bronze medal in the 3-kilometer run competition during the recent 2014 Asian Athletics Youth Camp in Doha, Qatar.

Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla told The Freeman that Feiza Jane Lenton, a native of Matag-ob town in Leyte, placed third in the distance run against athletes from 34 Asian countries.

Petilla said the feat of Lenton qualifies her to represent the Philippines for the World Youth Games in Colombia next year.

Lenton was first chosen to represent the Philippines in the Qatar tilt when she won gold medals for the event, one during the Palarong Pambansa held at Sta. Cruz, Laguna and another in the Philippine National Games in Pasig City, both held last year.
