Rookie cop kills ex-GF then shoots self

CEBU, Philippines- A neophyte policeman shot himself to death Sunday afternoon after he allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, according to the Tapaz Police in Capiz.

Inspector Leomindo Tayopon, Tapaz Police chief, said Police Officer 1 Jesus Farillon apparently shot himself in the right temple.

The police received a call around 3 p.m. and was informed about the incident. Neighbors also said they heard four gunshots and saw the bloodied bodies of Farillon and his former girlfriend.

Tayopon said Farillon went to his former lover's house at Barangay Taslan, a hinterland barangay 30 kilometers from Tapaz poblacion, after learning that the latter, who worked as a nurse abroad, just arrived for a vacation.

"It was theorized that he shot the woman three times before killing himself," Tayopon said. The victim, who was yet to be identified, was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Farillon, a policeman of five years, has a wife, who is now pregnant with their first child.
