Romualdez to PNoy: Double check rehab works

Ryan Ponce Pacpaco - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines- Leyte 1st district Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, leader of the House independent minority block, challenged President Benigno Aquino III to double check all information and data given to him by his people “because the rehabilitation and recovery efforts in Tacloban City remain slow.”

Romualdez’ district in Leyte was among the hardest hit by typhoon Yolanda, but rehabilitation and recovery works in the area, as well as in Tacloban, are snail-paced.

“He (Aquino) should double check the figures on the true situation of Yolanda survivors. During the SONA, it was all rosy pictures, with only the beautiful being presented, but in reality, there is a lot more to be done,” said the congressman.

Romualdez, however, vowed to continue working with the Aquino administration and set aside politics, as he acknowledged the importance of working with the president, presidential assistant for rehabilitation and recovery Secretary Ping Lacson, other Cabinet members, local officials and domestic and international aid donors.

“We will continue to work with this administration ... and also coordinate with our friends here and abroad to do more and we will just move forward. There’s is no excuse, but success in giving our typhoon and calamity victims not only in Tacloban City access to better living condition,” added Romualdez.
