Money changer loses P500T to 3 robbers; one arrested
BACOLOD CITY , Philippines — Three armed men on Wednesday robbed a money changing outlet in this city and fled with P500,000 in cash.
Several hours later, one of the robbers was nabbed at Barangay Banago of this city. He was identified as Reinhard Colango, 24, of Barangay Taculing who has previous cases of theft, robbery and direct assault.
The police confiscated from Colango’s possession a .357-caliber revolver with two live ammunition.
According to the police two of the robbers entered the BB Money Changer, owned by Genaro Benedicto, at Roxas Avenue in Barangay 39 of this city, and then declared hold-up.
The firm secretary, 25-year-old Grace Buenaflor, told the police she was held at gunpoint while one of the suspects ordered her to open the cash register.
The robbers, who were caught in a CCTV camera, took P500,000 cash and used a red Toyota Innova as getaway vehicle. The car had no plate number and may have been rented, said the police adding that investigation of the incident is still going on. (FREEMAN)
