Cop caught with illegal drugs, firearms

CEBU, Philippines - A neophyte policeman was arrested for illegal drugs and possession of firearms at Bangga Daan Banwa in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, chief of the Victorias City Police, identified the suspect as 24-year-old Police Officer 1 Reyland Dordas of the Capiz Provincial Police Office.

Rapiz said Dordas was apprehended in a saturation drive, during which the suspect was found allegedly possession of a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and .38-caliber homemade revolver with six live ammunition.

Rapiz said Dordas, a resident of Barangay Mauyon in Manapla town, Negros Occidental, had been involved in illegal drugs activities in the city, as he revealed that the suspect was tested positive for drugs.

Dordas was relieved from the Regional Mobile Group and was transferred to Capiz last June 9, said Rapiz, adding that the policeman will face administrative and criminal charges.  (FREEMAN)
