DENR-8 seizes P3.5M worth of illegal lumber
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — The DENR-Region 8 had reported that it has confiscated a total volume of 32,426 board feet of illegally cut lumber and round timber, worth an estimated value of P3,505,241.
DENR-8 Regional Director Leonardo Sibbaluca told reporters that the confiscation, under the agency’s intensified drive against illegal cutting of trees in Eastern Visayas, was carried out from January to May this year.
Sibbaluca said his office has also confiscated four cargo trucks and four chainssaws used in the illegal cutting of the forest products. —(FREEMAN)
