Cari unperturbed of Comelec ruling

Lalaine Jimenea - The Freeman

BAYBAY  CITY, Philippines — Mayor Carmen Cari yesterday said she remained unshaken over the Comelec ruling nullifying her proclamation as winner in the May 2013 elections, stating that such will not change the results.

“It’s just that the personalities of the City Board of Canvassers (CBOC) will be replaced, and there will be a new proclamation. After all, it was the Comelec who composed the first set of CBOC. Now, they are saying that what they composed in 2013 is improper,” said Cari, adding that she is now still the city mayor and will continue to dispense her functions as such.

While the Comelec orders for the reconvention of the CBOC with new members, the board chairman will still be Susan Collamar, who is currently the Comelec officer of Palo, Leyte.

Cari, in a phone interview, said she has not received a copy of the Comelec resolution denying her motion for reconsideration. She said she was not discounting the possibility that she might elevate the Comelec ruling to the Supreme Court.  (FREEMAN)
