BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — An Indian money lender and his Filipino driver were gunned down in Brgy. Mandalagan of this city Wednesday morning, police said.

The victims were identified as Kulwinder Singh, 31, temporarily residing at Brgy. Villamonte, this city, and driver Alden Teves, 30, of Talisay City.

Teves, a Philippine Army reservist, died on the spot, while Singh was rushed to the Bacolod Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital, but was declared dead-on-arrival, said Sr. Insp. Edgar Gulmatico, Bacolod Police Station 3 chief.

Investigation showed that the backrider on a blue Honda motorcycle shot Teves, who was sitting on a chair near a store in Mandalagan. The gunman and the motorcycle driver, both wearing bonnets, then approached Singh, who was sitting beside a store, and shot him thrice. (FREEMAN)
