Negros Occ is Best Performing Province

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) awarded Negros Occidental as the Best Performing Province in Western Visayas during the Pagdayaw 2013 awarding ceremony held at the Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.

The province also bagged the special awards as champion in each of three categories, namely, Excellence in Economic Governance, Environmental Governance and Valuing the Fundamentals of Good Governance. It added the 2nd runner-up prize in Administrative Governance and Social Governance.

Provincial Board Member Salvador Escalante, Jr. and DILG Provincial Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag received the award from DILG's Undersecretary Austere Panadero, Regional Director Anthony Nuyda, newly retired regional director Evelyn Trompeta and Assistant Regional Director Margie Biligan.

Other awardees for other categories were Sagay City, San Carlos City, Bago City and Kabankalan City.  — (FREEMAN)
