In Dumaguete City Charter Day done in fellowship w/ Yolanda victims
CEBU, Philippines - Dumagueteños and Negrenses alike are participating in a solidarity parade and candle lighting activities today to give more meaning to Dumaguete City's 65th Charter Cay anniversary celebration.
According to Glynda Descuatan, co-convener of the 2013 Fiesta directorate, this year's parade recognizes the need for every Dumagueteño and Negrense to make the event more relevant and sensitive to the situation experienced by the victims and survivors of typhoon Yolanda.
Descuatan said, "We are marching and walking, recognizing the indominable spirit of the Filipinos to reach out to one another, to rise again, despite the ruins of our homes, our lives and our dreams."
Parade contingents, including the religious sector, are set to bring placards with messages and prayers of solidarity and candle lighting.
For those who have donations in kind, are urged to bring the goods to the Quezon Park for the issuance of acknowledgement receipts by ABS-CBN's Sagip Kapamilya.
Cash donations will be received on stage after the parade with receipts to be issued also, Descuatan said. (FREEMAN)
