Retired policeman shot in Iloilo City
CEBU, Philippines - A retired police official is now in serious condition at a hospital in this city after he was shot by riding-in-tandem gunmen around 9:30 pm Friday.
Retired Sr. Supt. Musa Amiyong, 58, of Barangay Kasing-Kasing in Molo district, this city, was driving his motorcycle along Quirino Bridge at Muelle Loney Street in the metropolis when the two unidentified suspects shot him.
Amiyong sustained two injuries on his neck from a .45-caliber pistol. He was brought by the City Emergency Responders personnel to the St. Paul's Hospital where he was confined at the intensive care unit.
Reports said Amiyong was on his way home after he brought home a certain Jojo, who is living at LaPaz district, when he noticed that two men were tailing him. This prompted him to slow down, but before he could draw his gun from his waist, the assailants shot him.
Chief Insp. Alexander Rosales, chief of the Iloilo City Police Station 1, said they are facing blankwall on the gunmen's identities but he theorized that the slay attempt may be work-related or due to personal grievances. (FREEMAN)
