Bohol LGU to help sea tragedy victims; 2 dead Boholanos identified
TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Governor Edgar Chatto had announced that the provincial government will be extending P10,000 in financial aid to each of the families of the victims in the sea tragedy in Cebu.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office also said yesterday that at least two Boholanos were identified to be among the fatalities in the marine tragedy.
PSWD officer Carmelita Tecson, said one of the fatalities was Eugenia "Jean" Ruiz Balacuit, 66, of Barangay Sta. Cruz in Calape town of Bohol, who was the wife of Manoling from Butuan City, who remained missing to this day. Her remains were cremated at the Cosmopolitan Funeral in Cebu City.
The other identified fatality was Hilario Malnegro, 50, a resident of Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur, but was married to Vilma Lafuente-Malnegro of Barangay Cantam-is Bago in Loon town of Bohol. His cadaver was still at Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City, while his wife Vilma was recuperating there from injuries she sustained from the tragedy.
Missing Boholano passengers were Agatona Orcullo Lafuente, also of Loon, Bohol, and her 8-year-old granDchild, said PSWDO.
Tecson said the identified Boholano survivors were Gregoria Beloy, 58, of Tagbilaran City, and Flordeliza Olita, of Ubay, Bohol. (FREEMAN)
