On Samar provincial gov’t: COA reports irregularities in over P179M fund deals
CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines – A total of P179,517,174.13 in various transactions last year of the Samar provincial government has been issued notices for suspension and disallowance by the Commission on Audit for alleged deficiencies or irregularities.
The audit team, headed by State Auditor Perlita Lim, found deficiencies in the accounting processes by the Capitol in its transactions, namely: Impracticable disbursement of funds for questionable wages and overtime pay, unverifiable existence of about 1,222 job order (JO) personnel and non-implementation of the COA’s previous recommendations, among others.
As a result, COA, in its 2012 Annual Audit Report posted on Thursday, ordered the suspension and disallowance of over P170-million in financial transactions, while giving the Capitol at least a month to take actions on these. (FREEMAN)
