Guns-for-hire on the loose

Angeline Valencia - The Freeman

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — The three gunmen in last Sunday's murder of a former businessman inside the cockpit arena at San Isidro town of Bohol remained at large after three days of police operations.

The victim, Rene Tubongbanua, who was the target of the hitmen died on the spot, while several others including one of the three assailants, were wounded by stray bullets.

Chief Insp. Aniceto Alipoyo, San Isidro Police chief, last night explained that they were still withholding vital information on who could be the possible mastermind in Tubongbanua's murder.

Two days ago, however, SPO2 Antonio Agocoy had already mentioned personal matters and the victim's association with a politician as among the leads that investigators have been considering. (FREEMAN)
