Riding-in-tandem men shoot dead LTO "fixer"
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A stencil aide, who allegedly doubled as a fixer at the Land Transportation Office (LTO), was shot dead at Barangay Banuyao in La Paz district of this city Wednesday evening.
Ale Hallares, 36, of Simon Ledesma St. in Jaro district, was driving his motorcycle when riding-in-tandem gunmen peppered him with bullets.
The suspects immediately sped off after the incident, while the victim was rushed to the West Visayas State University Medical Center where he eventually succumbed to seven gunshot injuries.
According to his wife, Hallares was on his way to Barangay Caingin in La Paz to meet an unnamed person over a smoke emission test transaction.
Aside from a person whom Hallares had a verbal altercation at their village several months ago, his wife claimed her husband had no known enemies.
Meanwhile, Chief Insp. Alexander Rosales said the suspects' identities were still to be determined, as investigators could not also establish yet the motive of the killing. (FREEMAN)
