Negros Oriental ready for Palarong Pambansa
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Preparations for the hosting of Palarong Pambansa in April this year are going smoothly in Negros Oriental despite the heightened activities for the coming elections in May 13.
According to DepEd-7 regional director Carmelita Dulangon, who presided the coordination meeting here recently with DepEd division superintendent Salustiano Jimenez, other stakeholders, district supervisors, principals in the province, city division supt. Ramir Uytico as co-host, and the provincial government, everything is set on time.
Governor Roel Degamo also assured Dulangon and the DepEd that all requirements are carried out, such as living quarters of the athletes, comfort rooms, food, transportation, communication, security, facilities and equipment, among others.
The provincial government is allocating P10 million while DepEd is also raising its own funds for the annual sporting event, scheduled on April 21 to 27 this year.
There are about 15,000 athletes and sports officials expected to join the Palaro, and some of them may be coming a week ahead of schedule, said Degamo. (FREEMAN)
