La Salle stude hangs self
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A 21-year-old female student of the University of St. La Salle (USLS) in this city was found dead in an apparent suicide Thursday morning inside her rented room in Barangay 1, police said.
The victim, Ma. Lourdes Cruz, was a Psychology senior, a working student, and a Dean’s lister, investigators said.
Cruz, who used a towel to hang herself, was found lifeless by her father Alex when he arrived from work at past 9 a.m., police said.
Investigation showed Cruz left three separate suicide notes—for her father, friends and classmates, and relatives—all written in the pages of a notebook.
The victim wrote to her father that she was sorry for not having the courage to face life’s trials, while she expressed her gratitude to her classmates, friends, and cousins. (FREEMAN)
