Madrigal Singers to hold concert

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Madrigal Singers (MADz) will celebrate its 50th (Golden) Anniversary as a choral group with a 2-day activity in Bacolod City, from Jan. 21 to 22, capped by a concert at the John Paul II Cultural Center.

MADz was founded by National Artist for Music Andrea Veneracion in 1963 as the University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers. As one of Asia’s most awarded choirs, the group has traveled around the world as the country’s ambassadors of goodwill, winning high praise and distinction - being the only choir to win the coveted European Grand Prix twice in the competition’s 19-year existence.

The Negros Cultural Foundation and the Sacred Heart Seminary would offer MADz’ performance to the young artists, students, faculty and other members of various communities in Bacolod, also to raise funds for the renovation of the John Paul II Cultural Center and the Children’s Program of the Negros Museum.
