ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The Police Regional Office-6 has tapped the Internet in gathering volunteers for its anti-criminality campaign.
Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr., PRO-6 director, announced recently the launching of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) portal where would-be members could register online.
“We wanted to make it easier for those who want to share their time in keeping the peace and order. With the BPAT portal (www.bpatportal.org), they don’t need to go through the tedious process of manual registration,” Cruz said.
Aside from serving as membership database, the BPAT portal contains electronic training tools that members can easily access. It also contains programs and activities, as well as the accomplishments of the PNP.
To date, BPAT has more than 38,000 members in 3,642 barangays in Region 6. With the BPAT portal, more volunteers are expected to register, Cruz said.
PRO-6 is targeting to organize BPATs in all 4,051 barangays in Western Visayas. “Isa sa mga pangunahing papel na gagampanan ng online [BPAT] portal na ito ay ang mapabilis ang pagparehistro ng mga gustong mag-volunteer sa pangangalaga ng katahimikan at kaayusan sa kanilang barangay,” Cruz said. —(FREEMAN)
