2012 Masskara Fest photo contest Cebuano lens men declared winners
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A Cebuano photographer won the grand prize in the 2012 MassKara Festival photo contest dubbed, “Kari sa MassKara, Dala Kamera” during the October event.
Johan Ustin Sisno, a resident of Brgy. Mabolo in Cebu City, won the top prize of P15,000 cash and a MassKara trophy with his entry titled “The Posey.”
Festival director Eli F. J. Tajanlangit, in announcing the winners last Thursday (Nov. 29), said the first runner-up honors went to Wilfredo Lumagbas Jr. of Brgy. Alunan in Bacolod City, with his entry entitled “Vibrant Bacolod.” He won P10,000 cash prize and a MassKara trophy.
Another Cebuano, Ariel Salupan of Brgy. Lahug in Cebu City was second runner-up, with 5,000 cash prize and a MassKara trophy. His entry was also chosen for the Sponsor’s Photo award, earning him an additional P2,000 cash prize.
Two other Cebuanos who were in the top 10 winners’ roster, receiving medals, were: Robo Formacion of Del Rosario St. in Cebu City and Michol Sanchez of V. Rama Avenue, also in Cebu City.
Other winners were Robin Pinzon of Sto. Cristo in Angeles City, Carl John Verde of Brgy. 2 in Bacolod City; Glenn Gamayot of Batuan town in Bohol; and Kate Larrazabal of Seaview Subdivision in Silay City.
Meanwhile, the contingents of Sum-ag Elementary School, champion in the streetdance competition (elementary category), and Brgy. Cabug, first runner-up in the barangay category, were chosen Photographers’ Choices. Both receive P5,000 cash prize each, said Tajanlangit.
The photo contest was a partnership between the Camera Club of Negros (CCN) and the Silver MassKara Festival Organization, organizer of the MassKara Festival since 2004.
Judging the entries were CCN directors Billy Lopue and Carlo Leonardia, MassKara special events and streetdance committees chair Rudy Reveche, visual artist and Fine Arts professor Bamboo Tonogbanua and architect Rialino Alisbo, dean of the La Consolacion College-Bacolod. (FREEMAN)
