Youth leaders urge Leonardia to run for a congressional seat

BACOLOD CITY , Philippines — A total of 58, out of 61, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairmen affixed their signatures to the manifesto urging City Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia to continue serving the people of Bacolod, this time as a congressman.

These youth leaders signed the manifesto expressing their trust and confidence on the leadership of Leonardia, and wanting him to serve them further beyond his term as mayor of the city.

Reports came out yesterday that Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Councilors Homer Bais, Roberto “Bobby” Rojas, Em Ang, Dindo Ramos, Al Victor Espino, Caesa Distrito, Carlos Jose “Carl” Lopez, Mona Dia Jardin and Keith Emmanuel Ramos; and former Councilors Greg Gasataya and Alex Paglumotan, wrote to Nationalist People’s Coalition chairman Faustino Dy, Jr. and president Frisco San Juan endorsing Leonardia as the NPC official candidate for Congress in the 2013 elections.

Cited in the various endorsements for Leonardia has been “the rapid and sustained economic growth and development of Bacolod City since June 30, 2004, the day that he started serving his 9-year stint as city mayor, which will end on June 30, this year.”

Leonardia was also the city mayor from 1995 to 1998. (FREEMAN)
