Leonardia: Jesse, inspiration in local governance

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines  — Mayor Evelio Leonardia had said Secretary Jesse Robredo’s life had inspired local government executives because of the many reforms he implemented during his term.

“We salute Secretary Jesse, we honor him. (His life) will always be one shining moment of local governance and it will be a guiding star of local governance in the Philippines,” Leonardia said during a Mass held for the late secretary at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod last Tuesday (August 28).

Leonardia said Robredo had implemented a lot of reforms in the DILG that benefited the LGUs, such as his implementation of full disclosure policy among LGUs, the Local Governance Performance Management System, the Seal of Good Housekeeping and the Seal of Disaster Preparedness.

“Secretary Robredo’s life was a classic example of the credo: ‘The best way to live life is to do something that will outlast life itself.’ There’s no doubt that Secretary Robredo would live much, much longer than his lifetime,” Leonardia added.
