ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Effective yesterday, August 15, Senior Supt. Cornelio Defensor was relieved from his post of director of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO), with the turnover of command ceremony to his successor slated on August 22 (Wednesday).
Senior Supt. Pedrito Escarilla was named to replace Defensor at the APPO post but, until the turnover rites, Supt. Pablito Asmod, the command’s deputy director, will assume as officer-in-charge.
Defensor has still a year to go before his mandatory retirement from the police service, but he requested that he would be relieved from his APPO post, which he held on for one year and six months already. “I’ve stayed for quite longer. It’s time that someone would take over,” he said claiming that he wants to take it slow for now.
Reports also stated that Defensor might take over the vacated post of Escarilla, as chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division. — (FREEMAN)
