ILOILO City, Philippines – “Iloilo City is not the place for illegal drugs,” said City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog while emphasizing that the city government is very serious in its advocacy against it.
Mabilog issued this statement during the ceremonial destruction of seized illegal drugs during the flag raising ceremony at the City Hall early this week.
The illegal drugs, valued at more than P2 million, were confiscated and presented in decided cases under Regional Trial Court-branch 25 and 36 of Judges Evelyn Salao and Victor Gelvezon, respectively.
Branch 25 had 200 cases involving a total of 140.79 grams of illegal drugs, while Branch 36 had 113 cases with 127 grams.
“The burned drugs will be mixed with cement which will be used as material to a project we will be working on and be placed in the City Gallery,” Mabilog said.
“This is to show everybody our strong stand against illegal drugs here,” Mabilog said during the event that was also attended by PDEA-6 director Yogi Filemon Ruiz and legal officer Ronnie Delicana. - THE FREEMAN
