BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Two children drowned in a river in Brgy. Balaring Silay City, Negros Occidental Wednesday, a police report said yesterday.
The victims were identified as Rommel Mulitin, 12, and his cousin, Michael Castellano, both pupils of the Balaring Elementary School in Silay City.
The victims reportedly skipped classes, played basketball, and later decided to swim in the river using “salbabidas (lifesavers)” at about 1 p.m. when they drowned.
The body of Mulitin was recovered by the Silay rescue group about three hours after the incident, while that of Castellano’s was fished out from the river 15 minutes later. (FREEMAN)
