- Ric V. Obedencio - The Philippine Star

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines – The Department of Agrarian Reform-Bohol celebrated last Tuesday the 3rd anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (CARPER) that officials described as being implemented with success.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Antonio Del Socorro, in his brief speech during the event, thanked the agency’s partners via the so-called convergence strategy in fulfilling the CARPER. “This is our legacy after the (CARPER) program but it cannot be realized without the participation of our partners,” he said.

Provincial Administrator Alfonso Damalerio II, who represented Gov. Edgar Chatto, lauded what DAR-Bohol has achieved.

The 3-day celebration included the ceremonial ribbon-cutting to open booths showcasing agricultural products, agrarian reform community forum, signing of the memorandum of agreement with Gawad Kalinga and technology demonstration yesterday (July 11).

Today will be the launching of the DAR Na radio program, Solidarity Night for all employees and then the Employees Family Day tomorrow (July 13), coupled with mangrove planting in Alburquerque town, about 12 kilometers from the city.

DAR-Bohol also conferred awards to seven town mayors for their cooperation and assistance to CARPER. They were Mayors Marnilou Ayuban of Alicia town, Jose Mario Pahang (Antequera), Dominisio Chatto (Balilihan), Roberto Salinas (Catigbian), Louis Thomas Gonzaga (Danao), Claudio Bonior (San Miguel) and Restituto Auxtero (Talibon).  - THE FREEMAN
