- Jennifer P. Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO CITY, Philippines  — Aside from infrastructure projects he poured in the region, Senator Franklin Drilon also backed efforts to strengthen Western Visayas’s police force and its programs.

Drilon gave his assurance for support to the Police Regional Office-6 during the oath taking rite of 478 new policemen, the kick-off ceremony for the 17th Police Community Relations Month and the pinning of rank insignias and oath taking of newly-promoted police commissioned officers.

“I will see to it that every year the PNP will have a budget for the recruitment program and I will make sure that Region 6 will get its fair share in the budget,” said Drilon.

The senator also assured that “PRO 6 will get additional budget for the procurement of equipment like firearms and ammunitions to be issued to more than 1000 PNP personnel in Western Visayas who have no issued firearm.”

During the event, Drilon lauded Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, Jr., PRO-6 director, for the latter’s help in the implementation of the Iloilo River Development Project. He also announced Querol’s forthcoming promotion to a 2-star rank and for a top post in the PNP national headquarters.
