Tagbilaran to buy compactor trucks

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines —The city government plans to apply for a P16.6-million loan with Land Bank of the Philippines to purchase a compactor type garbage collection truck in an effort to improve the garbage collection efficiency of the City Solid Waste Management office (CSWMO).

For this purpose, the City Council had approved a resolution authorizing the city mayor to open a letter of credit with LBP.

Resolution 61-12, introduced by Councilor Doni Piquero, cited Invitation to Bid (ITB) No. 6-12 authorizing the city government, through the CSWMO, to purchase of two compactor- type garbage collection trucks.

The bids and awards committee already conducted the bidding for the purchase of the trucks and awarded the contract to JVF Commercial and Project Development Support Services.

The Council authorization is needed so the city mayor can open a foreign letter of credit since the equipment will be imported from Japan. It is also a requisite in applying for authority to import with the Bureau of Import Services, and for applying for tax exemption with the Department of Finance and sign all documents related to the transaction. — THE FREEMAN
