ILOILO CITY, Philippines — International architect and urban planner, the designer of the Iloilo River Esplanade, has assured completion of the multi-million peso project before the start of the three-day first Philippine International River Summit hosted by the city here.
Architect Paolo Alcazaren reported to the Iloilo-Batiano River Development Council last Friday, May 18, the status of construction at the esplanade site along the Iloilo River and said the project will be completed in time for the inauguration by President Benigno Aquino III this coming June 1.
Alcazaren was the Filipino architect responsible for the imposing Singapore Esplanade and quay project that is now considered as a major tourist attraction in Singapore.
Alcazaren said the contractor is conducting overtime work to meet the deadline in the expansion of the esplanade and road widening of the 1.2 kilometer Treñas Boulevard.
An eco-park and fun area for families and children will soon be opened to the public while the street was widened to accommodate daily early morning exercise buffs and dancers, bicycle enthusiasts and other fitness program events.
The park will have trees and ornamental plants, food kiosks and other amenities for picnic and family enj
