Limkaichong to run for governor

- Syril G. Repe -

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – Incumbent Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong (1st district, Negros Oriental) confirmed Tuesday that she will join the gubernatorial race in the province in the 2013 elections.

Limkaichong told reporters that she wanted to serve the province and share the programs and projects she had initiated in her district.

“After much reflection and consultation with my family, friends and fellow Liberal Party members I have decided to seek the position of governor of Negros Oriental in 2013,” she said.

Limkaichong’s running mate will be Dr. Mark Macias, son of the late Govenor Emilio Macias II. She however did not identify who will be the party’s bet for congressman in her district during the elections.

Other possible aspirants for governor, so far, were former Finance Secretary Gary Teves and incumbent Governor Roel Degamo.

Degamo did not mention the name of his running mate, but Teves said his partner will be incumbent Vice Governor Jun Arnaiz, brother of Rep. George Arnaiz (2nd dist., Negros Or). - THE FREEMAN
