19th Panaad sa Negros Festival opens April 9
BACOLOD CITY , Philippines— The annual Panaad sa Negros Festival, considered the “mother of all festivals” in Negros Occidental province, will be held at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan of this city from April 9 to 15.
Now on its 19th year, the festival bearing the theme “19 Years of Panaad sa Negros: More Food, Fun and Festivals” will showcase the best of the 19 towns and 13 cities of Negros Occidental.
The opening day will start with a Thanksgiving Mass in the morning, followed by ribbon-cutting ceremonies to open the different booths for the tourism and trade fair, a motorcade and LGU Floats Competition, and the festival formal opening rites with dance competition, fireworks display and GMA “Kapuso” Show featuring Manila-based artists.
On April 10 will be the ‘Hataw sa Panaad’ followed by sports events, the Great Titan Lifesaving Sports Festival, Drum and Bugle Competition, and Composo and Pop Song Writing Competitions.
On the third day (April 11) will be the TESDA Livelihood Skills Olympics taekwondo and boxing sports events, Latin Dance Sport and Panaad Hip Hop Challenge.
On the fourth day (April 12) will be the ABS-CBN’s Halad sa Kapamilya, followed by environment activity, Visayan Folk Dances Competition and Local Stock-Ilonggo Music Fest.
The fifth day (April 13) will have the Lin-ay sang Negros Grand Coronation Night, while the sixth day (April 14) will have the Outstanding Farmers, Fisherfolk and Livestock Raisers Awards, and later the ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Fiesta Caravan.
Awarding and presentation of winners will cap the weeklong celebration on the seventh day (April 15) during the closing ceremony, to be followed by the Panaad Drumbeating Showcase and Fireworks Display.
