LARENA, SIQUIJOR, Philippines — Governors Orlando Fua Jr. of Siquijor and Edgar Chatto of Bohol have pushed for a joint manifestation for a Regional Development Council resolution appealing to Petron Corporation, Chevron Philippines, Inc., and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation, to cause an equitable reduction of the prices of petroleum products in the provinces of Central Visayas.
Siquijor is noted for its high fuel cost with P63.10 per liter of gasoline compared to P62.97 in Dumaguete City, P62.95 in Tagbilaran City and P58.30 in Cebu City, based on petroleum products comparative pump price monitoring as of last March 21.
Major cities in Mindanao have the highest price index of P60.35 per liter of gasoline, said the report during the RDC-Region 7’s first quarterly meeting for the year held in this town of Siquijor.
The RDC-7 also discussed last year’s accomplishments, programs and projects of 2012 and the budget for endorsement for 2013, comprising of P29 billion for social development, P13 billion (infrastructure), P13 billion (economic dev’t) and P196 million (dev’t administration).
The council also approved its next quarterly meeting to be on June 28 in Bohol, on September 28 in Negros Oriental and on December 6 in Cebu. (FREEMAN)
