Papal Nuncio leads Medroso's 25th year celebration as bishop
TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto, Papal Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, led hundreds of Catholic faithful in the silver anniversary celebration of Msgr. Leonardo Medroso as bishop.
Retired Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and 25 other bishops, priests, nuns and the faithful joined the celebration of thanksgiving mass held Saturday at the St. Joseph Cathedral in this capital city.
The papal nuncio relayed to Medroso and the Catholic flock here Pope Benedict XVI message of appreciation and hope, citing the Tagbilaran Diocese bishop as “fervent servant in the vineyard.”
“The mission of the bishop is let the faithful have the right attitude to speak in Jesus’s behalf. A spiritual closeness with God should be developed in each of our lives,” said Pinto in his homily.
Medroso was ordained bishop on March 17, 1987 and had served as bishop of Borongan, Eastern Samar (1997-2006) before he was transferred here in Bohol.
Prior to his appointment as bishop, Medroso served as parish priest, parochial vicar, professor in the seminary and member of the Marriage Tribunal and Board of Consultants of the Catholic Church. (FREEMAN)
