One dead, 2 injured in Ormoc shooting
ORMOC CITY, Philippines – A woman died while her husband and younger brother, all of the known Martinez clan, were wounded when fired upon by four unidentified assailants about a few meters away from the victims’ destination at Villa Theresa Subdivision in Brgy. San Isidro at around 9 p.m. last February 26 (Sunday).
The fatality was identified as Maribel Leones Martinez, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. She was just married last December to Carmelo “Melot” Martinez Jr., who was hit in the right leg similar to her 9-year-old brother who was also wounded during the incident.
Melot and the boy are currently confined at the OSPA-Farmer’s Medical Center where Maribel was also brought earlier but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The shooting reportedly happened at the isolated portion near the entrance of the subdivision, where four men riding tandem on two motorcycles immediately opened fire at the Martinezes who were about to make a turn from the highway into the subdivision road.
Maribel, it was learned, was driving a motorcycle accompanying the multi-cab Melot was driving with the boy as passenger.
The Martinez couple, whose residence was at Brgy. Nadongholan, was on their way to return the boy and the multi-cab to their mother’s house at the subdivision.
The police are still undertaking investigation on the incident. (FREEMAN)
